DEFINITION

(ANSI std. 1100-1992) A RMS reduction in the AC Voltage, at the power frequency, for duration from
a half a cycle to a few seconds.

Voltage can drop below normal level for several cycles and can affect the critical load to cause shutdown.

With electronically controlled equipment, voltage under 20% below normal will result in shutdown.
